Explore Key Insights from C-SUCSeS High-Level Policy Forum on Climate-Smart Agriculture in South Asia

The Consortium for Climate Smart Agriculture in South Asia (C-SUCSeS) organized  a High-Level Policy Forum in the Maldives from November 13–15, 2024. This workshop brought together a distinguished group of experts, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss innovative strategies for building resilient agricultural systems in South Asia, addressing the growing threats of climate change.

We are excited to upload seven presentations this time from the forum that provide valuable insights into scaling Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) across South Asia. These presentations highlight the crucial role of policy, strategy, and institutional arrangements in promoting CSA, with a focus on each country’s unique approach.

  • Presentation-1 emphasizes the importance of creating supportive policies, strategies, and institutional frameworks to scale CSA effectively, ensuring long-term sustainability and resilience in the agricultural sector.
  • Presentation-2 discusses Bhutan’s approach to integrating CSA practices through strong policy and institutional support, aiming to address climate challenges while prioritizing environmental sustainability.
  • Presentation-3 explores India’s policy framework for promoting CSA, focusing on strategies and institutional arrangements that support large-scale adoption of CSA practices in diverse agro-climatic regions.
  • Presentation-4 presents Nepal’s strategy for scaling CSA, detailing key policy measures and institutional arrangements to overcome climate change impacts and enhance agricultural resilience.
  • Presentation-5 delves into Pakistan’s efforts to scale CSA through targeted policies and strategic initiatives, aiming to improve agricultural productivity and climate resilience.
  • Presentation-6 focuses on the Maldives’ unique challenges in scaling CSA due to its island geography, stressing the need for tailored policies and institutional arrangements to support sustainable agriculture in a changing climate.
  • Presentation-7 highlights the importance of creating a conducive environment in Sri Lanka for scaling CSA, emphasizing the policies and institutional arrangements required to ensure CSA adoption across various agricultural sectors.

These presentations collectively provide valuable lessons for building resilient agricultural systems in the face of climate change, aiming for a more sustainable future across South Asia.
